Who are the main heirs of Jacob today

Despite being so young (24), São Paulo native Danilo Brito has conquered the respect not only of contemporary musicians but also of the old guard of choro. Nowadays, he is the one who most resembles Jacob do Bandolim’s style, both in the sound he gets from the instrument and in his deportment as a choro player.

“Danilo is faithful to the tradition but he is a 21st century mandolinist,” says Sergio Prata, musician and director of Jacob do Bandolim Institute.
