Young man crushes on mandolin

The young man Danilo plays along with the “Old Guard”.

An odd figure among the grey-haired men, Danilo Ezequiel Brito de Macedo, 13 years old, comes to honor the “masters” almost every Saturday.

From Vila Nova Cachoeirinha, he arrives Downtown to finger his mandolin.

Despite the fact that he is in 5th grade and being a diligent student, he doesn’t care much for a music teacher, “I have been playing by ear since I was 5”, summarizes him without much explanation.

At the age of 2, Danilo listened to his father playing the cavaquinho. From him he received his first lessons. In love with the mandolin, he developed his feeling for the instrument over the years.

Admired by his colleagues, who could be his grandfathers, he receives compliments “he is the incarnation of Jacob do Bandolim”(...).

Less fan of conversation and more of the music, he prefers Waldir Azevedo to Rock´n’Roll.

“I like only choro”, reveals the boy, tuning his mandolin.
